North Carolina
Founded in Durham, North Carolina in 2011, Book Harvest's work in NC is robust and thriving. Children and families have harvested more than 2.7 million books across 93 counties (and counting!), filling their homes with an abundance of books, establishing a self-determined habit of shared reading, and nurturing a joyful identity as readers and book owners. As our flagship community, Durham is the heartbeat of our organization and the physical location of our headquarters and our vibrant Family Space. In September 2024, Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams stood in the Book Harvest Family Space and declared Durham to be the first ever City of Books.

Our programs in North Carolina include Books from Birth, Book Babies, Books on Break, Book Abundance, and Books in a Box.
Oregon
Book Harvest's work in Oregon began in early 2025 with the launch of Books from Birth at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Books from Birth is currently running at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Clatsop County.
South Carolina
Book Harvest's work in South Carolina began in the spring of 2025 with the launch of Books for K.
Books in a Box
Books in a Box is a direct-to-home program filling home libraries throughout the United States. By partnering with correctional facilities and community organizations, Book Harvest enrolls children from birth to age 10 and delivers home libraries of brand new and culturally inclusive books directly to children who are experiencing the incarceration of a parent.
LOCATION
Home libraries have been filled through Books in a Box in 11 states (and counting).
